Synopsis:

Ben always wears his favorite overalls to school. Every day his teacher Mrs. Garcia, says hello to him, and everyday Ben sits at the same green table and eats the same thing for lunch. Life is the same everyday, and that is how Ben likes it.

UNTIL ONE DAY…

The class has a new teacher, Mr. Elliot, and he is changing everything! Ben hates change and makes his feelings known. But in the end Ben discovers that change brings new adventures, for both him and Mrs. Garcia.

Maryann’s inspiration for Ben is based on a child she knows with Autism, though Same Way Ben is perfect for any child who has difficulty with change or transitions.

Young readers, including many not on the spectrum, can empathize with the character’s reluctance to embrace change, so the book could be a good discussion starter.  Sensitively pragmatic.” – Kirkus review
